Urban Farming 7 May 2008
The New York Times has a nice piece today on urban agriculture, focusing particularly on market farmers who are growing their crops in the New York City area. (The online version also has a slide show.)
Here are some resources here in the metro Boston area:
- The Food Project in Lincoln, Dorchester, and Lynn
- ReVision House Urban Farm in Dorchester
- The Farm School in Athol
- Boston Natural Areas Network, which organizes community gardens, amongst other things
- New Entry Sustainable Farming Project via Tufts University
- Massachusetts’ Farmers’ Markets 2008
- NOFA Massachusetts’ Organic Food Guide 2007-08 (available online and in hard copy). This page also has a downloadable file, Local Availability and Suggested Food Preservation Guide (PDF).
And here is a really nice longer article (2007) from the magazine In These Times about urban farming in the US.
