On the way to eggplant success! (Hopefully!) 8 September 2010

Today I finally spotted them – five buds on the more robust eggplant plant and one bud on the one that’s always been slower growing!  Perhaps there is still time for some eggplants to ripen before their sensitive souls get cold-weather-ed to death!

My fingers are crossed for you! I want to grow eggplants next year, but to do so I’ll need to start them from seeds. I looked this spring and none of the local growers sold eggplant starts, and I don’t drive out of town. But I think starting plants indoors in spring is tricky — at least for me.

I hope they mature for you. Then again, baby veggies are good! Come to that, I think most veggies are good, but eggplants especially.
